The Bélinac silks story starts in Aurec sur Loire in 1882. The founder, Albert Bélinac was the first to use specialised mechanical spindles for weaving silk ribbons. In 1906, the company moved its premises to Saint-Etienne where it has been ever since. In the 1930’s, the founder’s son, Henri Bélinac moved the company forwards into new products such as lining and furnishing fabric. His grandson, Jean Gelas took over the reins in 1968 and continued to diversify.
Its current director, Yann Biville took over this family run business in 2007.
2008 marked the start of a key partnership with Konrad Hornschuch AG, owner of the Skai brand. Bélinac became the French distributor of the Skai Fashion range thereby bolstering its furnishing fabric offering with original, top quality imitation leathers. In September 2010 Bélinac bought out its fellow partner (competitor), Jero adding fancy faux unis and mini patterns to its collection. This purchase also enabled it to become the French distributor to the Blendworth and Fuggerhaus furnishing editors.
Since its outset in 1882, Bélinac has worked hand in hand with lovers of beautiful materials, haute couture fashion designers and interior designers and decorators, upholding their expertise and encouraging their creativity. Focusing on today and even more on the future, Bélinac is keen to offer all its customers a rare choice of fabrics and colours with constant quality in mind. Its second-to-none offering is proposed on line, immediately available from orders of one meter. As a historical and must-have partner, Bélinac is ever-close and ever-tuned to its customers.
